In 2013, David Crosby, Graham Nash, and Jackson Browne performed a benefit concert, joining together with the community of Maui, Hawaii, to raise funds for “Ruth’s Ride” – a wheelchair accessible van for Ruth Benavides. Ruth Benavides is the daughter of Maui resident, dear friend, and former bus driver for Crosby, Stills & Nash, Bob Benavides. Ruth is globally delayed and non-verbal, has scoliosis, and cannot walk on her own. At that time, Ruth was 10 years old, and the van that was provided through the 2013 fundraiser, “Ruth’s Ride,” transported Ruth to and from school for over twelve years.

Ruth is now twenty-two years old. She is still globally delayed and non-verbal, and
resides with her father Bob in Maui. On February 19, 2025, “Ruth’s Ride” was totaled in a four car pile-up on Highway 37; fortunately, neither Bob nor Ruth were injured. They are reliant on a wheelchair accessible van for transportation.
Please join the Marta Eliza Miller Foundation (MEMF)
with our “Ruth’s Ride II” Fundraiser.
We have located a 2011 wheelchair accessible van through a mobility organization in Florida, with incredibly low miles, and are beginning the preparations to purchase and ship the van to Maui, Hawaii. We need your help with any donation, large or small; all donations are tax
deductible. Our fundraising goal is to purchase the wheelchair accessible van, ship it to Maui, and cover initial insurance costs for Bob and Ruth.
Donations for “Ruth’s Ride II” can be made through our foundation website at
